"Flower" Wins Academy of Interactive Arts and Game Developers Choice Award!
The PS3 downloadable game I showed during my TEDFellows talk "Flower" (my company's last commercial release, for TED Fellows reading from other parts of the world) has been awarded the title of Best Downloadable Game by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences(which is the video game's industry Oscars-like organization) as well as the Game Developers Choice Awards(in which awards are voted on by fellow developers). In addition, "Flower" won the Audio GANG award for Best Interactive Score.
This was a year that it was truly an honor to be nominated, as in addition to the awards we won, we were nominated in a number of categories up against large, AAA ("feature") games such as Uncharted 2 and Assassins Creed 2, such as Best Music and Best Visual Art. As one of our goals as a studio is to demonstrate that unique, artistically-crafted games aren't a niche but in fact appeal to a larger commercial audience, those nominations were incredibly meaningful.
